PNP-DEG seizes over P12M worth of drugs this month
PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) director, Brigadier General Remus B. Medina yesterday said they have confiscated over P12 million worth of prohibited drugs this month following 21 anti-narcotics operations.
In a report to PNP chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos, the official said the drugs were seized as a result of five buy-bust operations, the service of 15 warrants of arrests and one search warrant, and two marijuana eradication drives.
Medina said 21 suspects were arrested during the November 11-17 operations which likewise resulted in the recovery of 225.03 grams of shabu, 100 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 52,000 fully-grown marijuana plants, 100 grams of hashish, 93 strips of Phinix Alprazolam tablets, 325 strips of Valium (Diazepam) tablets, 230 strips of Mogadon (Nitrazepam) tablets, six cans of Camino (cannabis infused), 60 strips or Rivotril Clonazepam, four bottles of Hemp Gummies and three cans of Mr. Moxeys Mints, all valued at P12,988,284.
“We are not stopping our campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse despite the pandemic which sad to say has been even taken advantage of by drug traffickers,” said the PNP-DEG director.
On Monday, combined agents of the PNP-DEG, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency under Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva, the Bulacan Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Postal Corporation seized P170,000 worth of Ecstasy pills claimed by a 29-year-old Quezon City resident.
Medina said that suspect Maria Isabel Garcia Lim, a resident of No. 43 Hillside Drive, Blue Ridge A in QC, was placed under arrest 2:30 p.m. Monday during the controlled delivery operation in front of No. 5 Privet Drive in Bgy. Baranka in Baliwag, Bulacan.
Recovered during the operation were 100 Ecstasy tablets which were smuggled from Europe. The operation was conducted by joint operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group of which the PNP-DEG is one of the member-agencies.
