6 held for stealing steel bars in Sto. Tomas

SIX men including a minor were arrested by the authorities in an attempt to smuggle steel aboard a dump truck owned by a company in Sto. Tomas, Batangas recently.

A report by Sto. Tomas City Police to PCol. Glicerio C. Casnsilao, the arrested suspects were identified as Arjay Elca Umali, 34, backhoe operator, of Bgy. Kay Anlog, Calamba City; Mark Anthony Epa Tumbado, 27, helper; Rodel Corpuz Ramones, 36, driver, and both residents of Bgy. 1, Alaminos, Laguna; one alias “Jericho”, helper, of Bgy. San Pedro, Sto. Tomas City; one alias “Jay Hahn”, 17, a minor, laborer, of Bgy. San Felix, and Francis Ortinez Picardal, 38, warehouseman, of Bgy. Poblacion 2 – all of Sto. Tomas City.

Based on the investigation, the suspects were caught by Eric Malto, a duty security guard at the said establishment around 3:30 p.m. while inspecting the dump truck being driven by Corpuz along with the other suspects.

Upon inspection, the guard discovered the stolen 40 pieces of assorted reinforced steel bars worth around P20,000 and immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
