GENERAL TINIO, Nueva Ecija – A man wearing a wig on a motorcycle on Friday was arrested during checkpoint operations following reports that a suspicious-looking person was seen roaming around the town allegedly peddling illegal drugs.

Nueva Ecija police head Col. Richard V. Caballero said the arrested 49-year-old suspect, a resident of Bgy. Rio Chico, this town, was flagged down by his men in Bgy. Nazareth while driving a Honda XR motorcycle at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Operatives asked the suspect for the vehicle’s registration papers and his driver’s license but he failed to produce them.

Authorities searched the motorcycle and found five plastic sachets containing about 31.67 grams of shabu worth P215,356, a hand grenade, a cal.380 pistol with seven bullets, and two sets of wigs.

Town police head Maj. Leonel B. Lozada said the successful operation was conducted following a tip from a concerned citizen about an unidentified man donning a wig on motorcycle who was sighted in Bgy. Nazareth.

“I commend the diligence of the concerned citizen in reporting suspicious activities, showcasing the community’s active role in maintaining public safety,” Caballero said.
