PRO3 steps up safety measures for summer season
CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — As the summer season draws crowds to beaches, resorts, and other popular destinations, the Police Regional Office 3 under the leadership of Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo has intensified its security and safety measures to prevent drowning and other water-related accidents in the region.
Fajardo urged the public to take extra-precautions when engaging in water activities.
“If you plan to swim at the beach, make sure you are accompanied by skilled swimmers,” she said.
She reminded parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children, who might be tempted to enter pools or open waters without supervision.
The Central Luzon top cop also stressed the importance of observing safety signages and complying with restrictions posted in swimming areas.
Vacationers were advised to take note of the locations of first-aid stations and police assistance desks at their destinations to ensure immediate support in case of emergencies.
To ensure public safety, PRO3 has deployed over 1,400 police personnel to man Police Assistance Desks strategically positioned along major thoroughfares and tourist hotspots.
Personnel trained in Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) have also been assigned to various swimming areas to support lifeguards and provide rapid emergency response.
Fajardo reminded the public to remain vigilant, not only while traveling but also while attending events and visiting summer destinations.
“Let us all enjoy the season safely and responsibly. Our goal is for everyone to return home with happy memories, free from any untoward incidents,” Fajardo said.
