MoiraMULTI-platinum singer-songwriter Moira de la Torre exudes a different aura lately. Not that she is visibly fit and really slim these days. She has apparently proved her self-worth even after the personal battles she went through.

Moira, who has been in the music industry for seven years now, admitted her life changed so much in two and a half years. “Not just what happened physically, but the healing I experienced inside,” she said. “I definitely changed a lot since the major weight loss.”

With her busy calendar, Moira catches up on sleep that is apparently precious to her. She is even embarking on a US concert tour this April.

“Tinatapos ko din ang album so I’m in a work mood,” Moira granted. “That does make me feel good accomplishing things and finishing something I started.

“I know matagal ng dapat matapos ang album. But I know good things take time. After a long time of waiting, that makes me feel very good.”

Moira added that losing weight didn’t come easy for her. “In 2020, I started all these diet. I went vegan, keto,” Moira shared. “I’ve tried intermittent. When I stopped putting pressure on myself and started allowing myself to just be me, that was when I stopped feeling the pressure.

“Kumalma ang katawan ko and I started losing weight gradually. Alam ng katawan mo kapag naaalagaan siya nang tama. Alam ng katawan natin kapag minamahal siya nang tama.”

“Don’t be too hard on yourself. I know that’s such a cliché thing, but to be honest, how I started losing weight, it was when I stopped trying.”

Moira cannot be happier when she witnessed the physical change as a result of her efforts, especially when she didn’t even actually try.

“I’m just very, very thankful that the change happened so gradually,” Moira allowed. “It wasn’t anything quick. It started from within. Ang daming magagandang change na nagbago. I didn’t realize this is something I could do.

“Self love is not a selfish thing. To the people who are trying to lose weight, I wat you to care more about yourself. It had to take so much time to think that I was beautiful before. And then, the physical change happened. We are beautiful.

“For people who are going on a journey that I had been on, don’t be too hard on yourself. Be unapologetic when it comes to choosing yourself. It’s not a bad thing.”

Moira is grateful to her newest product endorsement, Bona Slim 15-in-1 coffee. “I will not take full credit for what I have now,” said Moira. “I relate very much with the vision that Bona Slim had.

They gave me so much creative freedom.

“The whole family welcomed me. They were at every shoot. They were at every meeting. I’m very, very grateful.

“Ang laki ng tiwalang binigay nila sa akin. I really felt it. They didn’t just get me as endorser, but they really trusted what I could give.

“That included my songwriting. When we went to the studio, I really felt the respect and I really, really appreciate that. I love that they gave me their message and how we could address it and how to put it into a song.”

Moira is not one to readily believe in her efforts when it comes to performing in public.

“I think kung titignan ko, mas marami naman na mas magaling and mas deserving in terms of talent,” she asserted. “But I know that I work hard and I’ve done my part. I also know that I will not be where I am now if not for the people around me.
