Village chief hurt in Laguna gun attack

A 41-YEAR-OLD barangay chairman on Saturday was injured in a gun attack inside a restaurant in Bgy. San Antonio, Biñan City, Laguna.

Biñan City police chief Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia identified the victim as Michael “Moro” Benjamin Gonzales, of 820 Balagtas St., Bgy. San Antonio, Biñan City.

Gonzales is the village head in Bgy. San Antonio.

He was seated inside the Ice and Butter Snack Bar when shot by an unidentified suspect at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect fled towards the nearby Bgy. Poblacion.

Jopia said they already have a person of interest in the case but refused to elaborate.

Authorities are eyeing personal grudge as motive for the attack.
