Tondo- based suspect held for selling fake cigarettes in Ecija
CABANATUAN CITY — Police nabbed a suspect who was caught allegedly selling fake cigarettes worth P24,000 here on Sunday afternoon.
Arrested was Jerome Luis Hung, 26, single, of 1995 Land Wealth condominiums, corner of Juan Luna and Pritil streets, Tondo, Manila.
Nueva Ecija police chief Col. Rhoderick B. Corpuz said the suspect was apprehended at a drug store in Bgy. Hermogenes Concepcion Sr. at 5:30 p.m. here.
His arrest was made by joint elements of the PIU-NEPPO, RSOG, PIT-NE and the local police led by Major Angelito Manalastas.
Seized from inside the suspect’s metallic bronze Toyota Innova van (USO-688) were 1,000 pieces of suspected fake Mighty Green cigarettes with an estimated street value of P24,000.
A criminal complaint for violation of Section 254 (Attempt to Evade or Defeat Tax in Relation to Section 145 (Cigars and Cigarettes) of the National Internal Revenue Code of the Philippines was prepared for filing against the suspect before the city prosecutor’s office here.
