PBA legend-coach Loreto “Ato” Tolentino will be laid to rest on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Holy Cross Memorial Park in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Tolentino, one of the PBA pioneers in 1975-79 where he earned the monIcker “Mr. Hotshot” and a multi-titled coach in collegiate-commercial basketball, passed away last Sunday, Nov. 5.

He was 76.

His body now lies in state at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

Tolentino, who is best remembered for winning five straight NAASCU championships with the University of Manila from 2001-2005 and NCAA crown with the Philippine Christian University in 2004, was survived by sons and daughters Amira, Roderick, Cielo, Elvis, Sydney and Syprus and grandchildren Karima, Afkar, Rafael, Dyane, Kyle, Kirk and Elpida.

His sterling NAASCU record with the UM Hawks included an unprecededted 86-game winning streak from 2001-2005.

Tolentino also captured three national inter-collegiate championships and several PICAA, MICABA and MBL championships.

Among the early visitors to Tolentino’s wake were former NAASCU chairman Atty. Ernesto de los Santos of UM, who spent many successful years with him in the NAASCU; and businessman-sportsman and MBL chairman Alex Wang of Wang’s Ballclub.
