FILIPINO-CHINESE philanthropist Dr. James G. Dy on Thursday penned President Duterte a letter thanking him for appointing Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar as the 26th chief of the Philippine National Police.

“Amidst the hardship that we experience brought by the COVID pandemic, I want to give my commendation to you Mr. President by trying all your best to manage the situation and especially how to deliver the best help for our fellow Filipinos,” Dr. Dy, the president of the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center and chairman of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. told the Chief Executive.

“I would like to relay my heartfelt gratitude in appointing my very good friend Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar as the head of the Philippine National Police. I knew Lt. Gen. Eleazar for a very long time, he is very disciplinarian, incorruptible and hardworking,” Dy said.

“I do hope that after his retirement, you will appoint him as one of your key officers because his abilities and credentials will speak for it. It will be a great asset for the government to have him,” the philanthropist said.

Apart from being a known friend of President Duterte, Dr. Dy is famous for his charitable works and has been helping the government in general and the PNP in particular over the past several decades.

Under him, the Chinese General Hospital offers free hospitalization for police officers and men who have been wounded in the line of duty or those shot in gunbattles with armed criminals.
