UMUSAD na ang panukala ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na palawigin ang dalawang taon ang estate tax amnesty na magtatapos sa Hunyo.

Ang House Bill (HB) 7409 ay inaprubahan sa isinagawang pagdinig ng House Committee on Ways and Means na pinamumunuan ni Albay Rep. Joey Salceda noong Martes.

“Through this bill, those with unsettled or unpaid estate taxes are encouraged to clear themselves of their obligations, transfer the property to the rightful heirs, and at the same time, help the government increase its tax collections,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Kasama ni Speaker Romualdez bilang may-akda ng HB 7409 sina House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipa, House senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, at Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez at Jude Acidre.

Ang Tax Amnesty o Republic Act 11213 ay naisabatas noong 2019 at naglalayong ilibre sa multa at interes ang mga hindi nabayarang estate tax.

Noong 2021, inaprubahan ng Kongreso ang panukala na palawigin ang amnestiya hanggang Hunyo 14, 2023.

Ayon sa mga may-akda marami pang nais na makinabang sa amnestiya subalit naapektuhan ng pandemya kaya makabubuti kung palalawigin pa ito.

“While the country is now taking steps to heal from the pandemic-driven recession, challenges remain fro Filipinos to achieve full and equitable recovery, especially with the emergence of high inflation. Families with unsettled estate taxes still struggle to comply with the documentary requirements and failed to benefit from the substantial decrease in tax liabilities provided under RA 11213,” sabi pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sa ilalim ng HB 7409, ililipat ang deadline ng pagbibigay ng tax amnesty sa Hunyo 14, 2025.
