STRIKE OUT
Transport holiday fails to paralyze Metro
THE transport strike on Monday failed to paralyze traffic in Metro Manila.
This was the assessment of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Inter-Agency Task Force of Tigil Pasada on the transport strike of the MANIBELA group this Monday, October 16.
In a press conference, MMDA chairman Romando Artes said the stoppage was not felt much in Metro Manila, where the situation is generally normal based on the Inter-Agency Task on Tigil Pasada.
In their monitoring, only three places had partially stranded passengers, these are in Paranaque, Baclaran, Quirino and Altura.
However, the local government unit immediately responded and sent four MMDA vehicles.
Artes said economic sabotage was done by the group but fortunately there was no harassment of the jeepney drivers who continued their activities due to the lack of food for the family.
At the same time, the MMDA leadership asked for understanding in not suspending the number coding scheme.
Artes stressed that the reason why they did not immediately disperse the vehicles was to give those who continue to observe a chance to make money first.
According to Artes, if the transport groups fail, they will be considered a success that will attract the attention of the public and the media.
