Solid Lacson supporters in Negros Oriental holding the fort in the province for Ping
PRESIDENTIAL candidate Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson may have lost a political party, but what he gained in return is a renewed vitality among his loyal band of supporters in different provinces, who are happy to take over the responsibility of campaigning on his behalf in the final stretch of the election season.
In a press statement released on Sunday (March 27), members of the Lacson-Sotto Support Group (LSSG) in Negros Oriental said they are not shifting their support to another presidential candidate and would remain solidly behind the former national police chief and multi-term senator.
“While Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson may have resigned from Partido Reporma, he remains as a candidate for President for the May 2022 elections. There is NO TRUTH to the reports that he has withdrawn from the presidential race. Consequently, we, the supporters of Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson in Negros Oriental remain steadfast in our commitment to support and campaign for the candidacy of Ping Lacson,” the group said.
The LSSG assured Lacson and their fellow supporters that nothing changes in their stance, because as far as they are concerned, the veteran lawmaker mounted a national campaign that is firmly rooted on his time-honored principles, not his allegiance to any political party.
“From the very start, our support for Ping Lacson was premised on his competence, qualification, and experience as a public servant. It was never hinged on his membership or alliance to any political party. At the very least, it was primarily anchored on the principles of good governance, transparency, and genuine governmental reform, which our country direly needs,” the group stated.
The LSSG held ground campaign activities in different areas across Negros Oriental on Sunday as part of their ongoing efforts to “solidify our unwavering support to the most competent, most qualified, and most experienced presidential candidate,” referring to Lacson.
“We, likewise, make the same call to all Filipinos who love their country to support the candidacy of Ping Lacson. Walang iwanan! Walang atrasan! (We are not leaving him behind! We are not backing out!),” the group said further.
The LSSG is an umbrella organization of a network of volunteer support groups nationwide that are actively campaigning for Lacson and his running mate Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III as the next leaders of the country.
The group issued the statement in solidarity with Lacson who announced his decision to leave Partido Reporma last Thursday after party president and former House Speaker Pantaleon ‘Bebot’ Alvarez withdrew his support for his candidacy in favor of another presidential candidate.
