Silang steps up vax programs

SILANG, Cavite – To bring vaccination closer to the people, the local government and municipal health office of Silang have added a mobile vaccination program for the remote barangays of the town here.

Local government of Silang under Mayor Corie Poblete and Dr. Joyce Guarin, municipal health officer of Silang, added “Bakuna on Wheels” to bring the vax program nearer to the barrio folks.

“Inilapit po namin ang Bakunahan sa mga barrio para hindi na po sila mahirapan pumunta sa dalawang vaccination site sa Cavite State U (CvSU) sa Poblacion and Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) in Santa Rosa-Tagaytay road,” Mayor Corie Poblete said.

According to Rural Health Unit (RHU) head Dr. Armin Joyce Guarin, their CvSU vaccination site is open from Mondays to Fridays, AUP and Bulihan Vax sites are open Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays, while the Bakuna on Wheels are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

So far, 173,174 individuals or 58.41 percent of the total population of 296,481 (based on 2021 population) have been vaccinated with the 1st dose, while 159,629 or 53.84 percent are fully vaccinated based on the January 25, 2022 report of Silang RHU.

The town has a scheduled Bakuna on Wheels at Sisters of Mary in Barangay Biga, Aguinaldo Highway; Barangay Maguyam and Buklod Bahayan on January 27 and Barangay Malabag covered court on January 28.

Silang has 575 active Covid-19 cases as of January 25, 2022 of the 6,804 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 6,106 recoveries, and 123 deaths.
