SikaSika1IN an effort to support the local community and aid quality solutions in the construction industry within the country, Sika Philippines Inc. embarks on knowledge-sharing initiatives that tap on-site construction workers and related professionals through multiple sessions of a whole-day skilled training workshop called Sika World Tiler Day and monthly webinars pivoting on construction trends and solutions.

Sika World Tiler Day aims to educate and challenge practices of ground skill workers including tiler installers, masons, foreman and applicators on the proper processes, installation and other tile solutions using the products of Sika. The on-site training, held in various key sites in and out of the Metro, is composed of an educational session focused on demonstration on proper application of tile adhesive and other products and a competition where participants apply their new learnings and prove their skills. All winners recognized from different Tiler Days will convene for a national tiler competition and the final winner will have a chance to participate in an international competition in the US and China.

SIka Philippines has recently gathered applicators within Metro Manila and adjacent provinces like Cavite and Bulacan. The first Sika Tiler Day of 57 attendees was held simultaneously in Dasmariñas, Tanza and Kawit last June 29. This is followed by two more training days in Quezon City, particularly in Matandang Balara and Project 8. The recently conducted Tiler Day, on the other hand, happened in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

Alainne Leonard, E-commerce & Digital Projects Manager, APAC Region, invites workers to form a group of around 30 participants based in any area in the Philippines to send a request to conduct a training workshop. “Sika Philippines is open to bringing skilled training in relevant districts across the Philippines as part of our effort to build better and promote quality construction.

As such, we consider that any area can be a Sika Tiler Day location,” she claims. “We recognize the innate craftsmanship of Filipinos and Sika aims to polish this talent through intricate trainings. We look forward to unleashing their full potential as skilled workers and provide more opportunities for them as they cater to the future demands in construction.”

Aside from the on-site training piloted, Sika Philippines offers monthly webinars held through Zoom which run from February until November. Target participants vary from different professionals across the construction industry including architects, engineers, contractors, designers, applicators and specifiers.

Topics include waterproofing, facade solutions, maintenance of roads and bridges through sealing and bonding, passive fire protection, building solutions including concrete walls and floorings, data center technology for equipment safety, water treatment, industrial zero downtime solutions, retrofitting old structures, and maintenance of tunnels and metro rails.
