Septaguenarian ex-rebel with gun, grenade yields; rifle grenade uncovered in Currimao
DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte- An armed 70-year-old woman and former member of the New People’s Army surrendered Tuesday to police authorities in Dingras, Ilocos Norte.
Col. Julius Suriben, Ilocos Norte police director, identified the surrenderree as Inocencia Domingo, former member of the New People’s Army- Communist Terrorist Group- Sectoral Front Organization(CTG SFO) of Brgy. San Francisco, Dingras, Ilocos Norte.
Col. Suriben said the peaceful surrender of the former rebel was facilitated about 2 p.m. on April 18, 2023, by personnel of the Dingras MPS pursuant to the objectives of Executive Order No. 70.
Col. Suriben said the old woman was deceived by the left-leaning individuals to join in the underground movement.
Domingo also surrendered a Caliber 22 revolver with SN 251342 without markings and a hand grenade.
Meanwhile, a 40mm rifle grenade was recovered in Brgy. Comcomloong, Currimao, Ilocos Norte.
The rifle grenade was found by Gregorio Diaz, 47, resident of Brgy Comcomloong, Currimao.
Personnel of Currimao police gathered that the local resident was digging a tree stump when he recovered the rifle grenade.
The recovered item was brought to the said station prior to its turnover to the EOD INPPO for proper handling and disposition.
