THE public is warned anew against falling prey to a social media post offering cash assistance to graduating students.

The Department of Education (DepEd) issued a “misinformation alert” on its Facebook page about a fake cash assistance worth P5,000 circulating online for graduating students of Class 2024.

According to the post, applicants must submit a “PSA,” a reference to their birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority, a good moral certificate, and their report card to qualify for the cash assistance.

The post added that the offer is open to graduating elementary, high school, and college students and set the deadline on May 20.

This is the fourth time this year that the DepEd sounded an alarm on circulating posts offering students bogus cash assistance or scholarships.

The most recent post offered cash assistance to students, ranging from P5,000 to P10,000.
