SUPREME Court (SC) Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh has tested positive for COVID-19, the high court’s Public Information Office (PIO) said in a statement released Thursday morning.

Singh will still work, albeit in isolation, as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

According to the SC-PIO, Singh, who was fully vaccinated and had a booster shot, has been showing “mild” symptoms.

The other justices, whom Singh had blended with in the last en banc hearing on June 14, are now in quarantine and will be tested soon against COVID-19.

“The Court has been providing weekly antigen COVID-19 testing for its officials and employees and continues to take precautionary measures. It urges the public to do the same,” the statement read.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed Singh on May 20, 2022, as the 194th SC Justice replacing retired Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe.

Perlas-Bernabe retired last May 14 after reaching the compulsory retirement age of 70.

Singh’s appointment completed the membership of the 15-man high tribunal.
