A FORMER job-order traffic enforcer who was dismissed from the service was arrested by policemen while in the act of apprehending motorists in a dimly lit portion of the road Monday evening in Malabon city.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Mike Jefferson Santelics, 39, of 103 Atis Road, Brgy. Potrero, was still wearing a Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) uniform when he was accosted by elements of Station Intelligence Section at around 10:35 p.m. while apprehending motorcycle riders passing along P. Aquino Letre, Bgy. Tonsuya.

Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) chief P/Maj. Ronald Carlos said that at around 10:20 p.m., traffic enforcers Allan Centron and Eliseo Dizon of PSTMO sought police assistance after they spotted their former colleague, who was already terminated from the service for allegedly committing grave misconduct, while continuously performing the duty of a local traffic enforcer.

Col. Barot already instructed case investigators P/SSgt. Mardelio Osting and P/SSgt. Diego Ngippol to find out if there are complaints of extortion against Santelics since he has no reason to perform his previous job if he gets nothing in return.

The suspect was presented for inquest proceeding before tha Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of Article 177 of Revised Penal Code or Usurpation of Authority or Official Functions.
