Raps files vs 7 arrested for illegal quarry in Rizal
FORMAL charges have been filed against seven persons following their recent arrest in Rodriguez, Rizal for alleged illegal quarrying activities.
The National Bureau of Investigation-Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD) identified the suspects as Alexander Bando, Rochelo Austral, Raul Navarro, Alber Epanto, Kenneth Cornelia, Berny del Rosario, and Menardo Maligaya.
The suspects were brought for inquest before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, San Mateo, Rizal for violation of Section 103 of Republic Act No. 7942, otherwise known as the “Philippine Mining Act of 1995.”
Their arrest stemmed from an information received by the NBI-EnCD regarding the alleged rampant illegal quarrying allegedly involving the suspects in Barangay Mascap, Rodriguez.
They were accused of extracting and disposing minerals without the necessary permit from the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of the Province of Rizal and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region IV-A (DENR-MGB Region IV-A).
A series of surveillance operations conducted by the operatives of NBI-EnCD have confirmed the illegal quarrying.
