CIDG-NCR men nab Makati cop, 3 others wanted for estafa
A MAKATI policeman and three others wanted for syndicated estafa with no bail recommended are now in jail after being arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, a report to PNP-CIDG director, Major General Eliseo DC Cruz said on Sunday.
The suspects were identified by CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit chief, Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio as Corporal Manuel Gutierrez Jr.,36, Ligaya Ambe,64, of Camella Greenville Subdivision in Tuktuan, Taguig City; and Florie Ramos,38; April Grace Castro,32, both residents of no. 1422 Malambing Street, Pangarap Village in Caloocan City.
No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused by Judge Regina Paz Chavez of the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 275 in connection with the syndicated estafa case filed against them.
The four were also the subject of a warrant for estafa issued by Judge Vicente Jimenez of the Abulug, Cagayan Metropolitan Trial Court last July 19. Each were asked to post a P30,000 bail by the Cagayan court.
According to Col. Silvio, members of the CIDG-NCRFU Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit headed by Lieutenant Col. Mark Jason Gatdula arrested the four following complaints regarding their alleged involvement in an investment scam filed by a number of complainants.
“The suspects were accused of setting up a bogus mining and aggregates company which offers un unrealistic high return of investment to their investors and other entrepreneurs,” said Silvio.
The official said that several complainants sought the help of the Southern MMDFU in tracking down the suspects after they discovered that they have been gypped of their hard-earned savings.
“It turned out that the suspects were not able to deliver their promise to the complainants and worse, upon demand, also failed to return the victims’ money which were invested to their supposed mining company,” said Col. Silvio.
A tracker team from the Southern MMDFU arrested Ramos and Castro last Tuesday in their residence. The two other suspects were arrested on Thursday by the same team with the assistance of the Southern Police District.
All four are set to be presented to the proper courts for issuance of official jail commitment order, said the CIDG-NCRFU chief.
