QCPD anti-illegal gun drive seizes 123 firearms

THE Quezon City Police District‘s (QCPD) intensified campaign against illegal firearms resulted in the arrest of 113 individuals and confiscation of 123 loose firearms.

QCPD director P/BGen. Redrico Maranan said 110 operations were conducted by the various units and police stations from September 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024.

From these operations, Novaliches police station (PS) 4 and Payatas Bagong Silangan PS 13 had the highest number of operations, arrests and confiscated firearms.

PS 4 and PS 13 conducted 15 operations each, resulting in the arrest of 14 and 16 individuals, respectively, and the confiscation of 15 and 18 firearms, respectively.

Following closely, La Loma PS 1 conducted 13 operations, leading to the arrest of 16 individuals and the confiscation of 17 firearms.

Project 6 PS 15 carried out 9 operations, resulting in the arrest of 9 individuals and the confiscation of 9 firearms.

All the suspects were charged with violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Maranan commended the relentless efforts of QCPD operatives in executing the nonstop anti-criminality operations.

“We will continue to intensify our efforts to rid our streets of illegal firearms, working tirelessly to uphold the peace and order in Quezon City.
