PPCI fetes General Trias as most ‘business-friendly’ LGU

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) led the awarding of the top seven local government units (LGUs) during the 48th Philippine Business Conference and Exposition of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) held at Fiesta Pavillion, Manila Hotel in Luneta Park, Manila on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV and Cavite 6th District Congressman Antonio Ferrer of General Trias City received the plaque of “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU)” City Level 2 (1st and 2nd Class Component City) from PBBM, while Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto received the award of “Highly Urbanized City” of National Capital Region (NCR).

Bulacan Province Governor Daniel Fernando received the “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit” (Provincial Level), Mayor Vincent Soriao of Pakil, Laguna for “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit” (Municipal Level) category II, Mayor Ma. Teresa Timbol of Capalong, Davao Del Norte won the “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit” (Municipal Level) Category I, and Mayor Jane Yap of Tagbilaran City, Bohol won the “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit” (Highly Urbanized City) Provincial Level.

The said awards are in recognition of their commendable efforts in adopting and instituting innovative and best practices in good governance in partnership with the private sector, significantly benefiting its business community and citizenry.

“I am happy that the city of General Trias was once again recognized as the Most-Business Friendly LGU. I dedicate this to all the staff of the city government and the people of General Trias; you can count on us to improve our service to people and citizens,” Mayor Jon Jon Ferrer IV said in an interview.

The said city last won a similar award in 2007 when it was still at the municipal level.

General Trias City Government also clinched the Top 4 spot in “Economic Dynamism” (Component City Level), Cavite Province placed 2nd to Rizal Province for the “Most Competitive Province” during the 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit held at Plenary Hall, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on October 20, 2022.

While Carmona town received a special citation as the most business-friendly LGU for the year 2022 by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). This is because of initiatives to improve and streamline business processes, quality management, and innovative systems for the good of the business community in the town of Carmona.

Carmona was recognized as the “Hall of Famer” of the said award from 2009-2011.
