PNP marks 126th Independence Day

THE Philippine National Police marked the 126th Independence Day celebrations with a solemn flag-raising rites at Camp Crame.

The ceremony at the PNP National Headquarters was led by the Acting PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Lieutenant General Emmanuel B. Peralta.

The occasion was also simultaneously celebrates across all 17 police regional offices and the 82 provincial police offices.

Lt. Gen. Peralta delivered the message of PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil who said the Independence Day celebration is “a time for reflection and renewed dedication to national principles.”

The top cop likewise honored the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom and inspired the nation’s progress.

This year’s theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan,” said the PNP chief, “ emphasizes our hard-earned freedom (Kalayaan), our commitment to a better future (Kinabukasan), and the importance of preserving our rich history (Kasaysayan).”

Gen. Marbil said the message is a reaffirmation of every policeman’s duty to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety of Filipinos.

“In the words of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, ‘Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan,” said the PNP chief as he urged all officers and men of the 232,000-strong police force to honor the sacrifices made by or heroes by striving for a better future.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic release of doves, representing peace and freedom as the PNP leadership aired its commitment to the legacy of Philippine independence while being inspired by the spirit of freedom.
