AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Luzon (PDEA-CL) on Thursday afternoon arrested a 42-year-old resident of Mandaluyong City during a controlled delivery operation involving some P12.3 million worth of shabu imported from the United States, a report from the PDEA headed by Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo said yesterday.

Arrested during the sting along Sultan Street in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City was a male resident of Bgy. Dr. Fernandez in the same area.

Undercover officers from the PDEA-CL office led the controlled delivery operation wherein a poseur delivered a parcel containing around 1,808 grams of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine,” which arrived at the Port of Clark from San Jose, USA last May 9.

The controlled delivery operation was launched following information received by the PDEA International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service from their foreign counterparts, the PDEA Public Information Office said.

Members of the PDEA Clark Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Group (CIAIG), the PDEA National Capital Region (NCR), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the local police were also involved in the successful anti-narcotics operation.

The arrested suspect will be facing criminal charges for the importation of dangerous drugs, a non-bailable offense under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
