A PRESIDENTIAL Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC)-supported anti-criminality operation in Bulacan last Sunday led to the arrest of one of the province’s most wanted car theft personalities, officials said yesterday.

Argel Bernabe, a 28-year-old jobless resident of Bgy. Citrus in San Jose del Monte City, was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Pulong Buhangin in Sta. Maria municipality past 10 p.m. Sunday, a report to PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert DC Cruz said.

Tagged as the 4th most wanted person in Bulacan, the suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 issued by Judge Lyn Gonzales of the San Jose del Monte City Regional Trial Court Branch 120.

The court recommended a P300,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused.

Members of the Bulacan Provincial Highway Patrol Team headed by Maj. Carlo Loñosa and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 3 led by Col. Ruel Cagape arrested the suspect following days of surveillance.

The suspect, according to the RHPU3, has gained notoriety for his involvement in motorcycle theft, robbery and illegal drug activities in different parts of Bulacan, specifically the municipalities of San Jose del Monte City and Santa Maria.

He is now under the custody of the RHPU3 prior to his presentation to court.
