City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Central Luzon police commander Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay commended the Pampanga police for accounting some 677 loose and unlicensed firearms from January to November 17.

The surrendered loose firearms including seven M16 rifles, 92 shotguns, and assorted short firearms, were presented during the command visit of Baccay at the Pampanga Police Provincial Office.

Baccay said the success of Oplan Katok was due to the collaboration of Pampanga police, the LGUs and stakeholders to rid the province of illegal guns which might cause violence in the coming election.

The local police are conducting Oplan Katok or the house-to-house visit to civilian gun holders who have not yet renewed the gun license and registration as required under Republic Act 1059.

The Pampanga cops implemented 30 search warrants and conducted 214 police operations, which resulted in the arrest of 213 persons and seizure of 236 firearms in the same period.

The Pampanga police has been conducting operations on illegal drugs, illegal gambling and most wanted persons, for being adjudged Best Police Provincial Office in Region 3 for two consecutive years.
