Over 200 guns, explosives seized in CL checkpoints

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga–More than 200 guns and explosives were seized in various checkpoints in Central Luzon as police continue their relentless, nonstop implementation of gun ban in line with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) elections.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said from August 28 to date, a total of 156 firearms and 77 deadly weapons, including explosives, were confiscated while 195 individuals were arrested in police operations, checkpoints, illegal drug operations and implementation of search warrants.

“I have reminded our personnel to be courteous to motorists and to adhere to general guidelines prescribed in our Revised Police Operational Procedures,” Hidalgo said.

The regional police chief said at checkpoints, motorists are advised to slow down, dim their headlights, turn on their cabin lights and answer promptly if asked by police authorities.

The carrying of firearms, deadly weapons and explosives as well as its transportation, is strictly prohibited from August 28 to November 29, 2023.
