A NON-GOVERNMENT organization (NGO) has donated P250,000 to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) which was recently struck by fire.

MMDA spokesperson Asec. Celine Pialago, founder of the Malasakit Movement, personally handed P250,000 to PGH president Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi at his office.

“We heard the appeal of PGH, this is why we donated financial help to them,” she said.

Pialago underscored the important role of hospitals such as PGH during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is our little way of thanking PGH that serves many indigent Filipinos in dire need of medical help,” she added.

Dr. Legaspi expressed the hospital’s gratitude to the Malasakit Movement for extending financial aid to the fire-hit hospital.

On Facebook, PGH appealed for donations following the blaze that damaged a portion of the hospital.

University of the Philippines Office of the Student Regent also called for donations for the hospital.

On May 16, a fire broke out at a portion of the PGH at 12:41 a.m.
