AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, chairman of the House appropriations committee, on Wednesday said the new Hemodialysis Building at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) “is a great blessing” for the Filipino people.

During the building’s groundbreaking rites, Co cited how the 13-storey facility will address one of the most pressing health issues in the country: kidney disease.

Co said he is aware of the issue’s magnitude since a significant portion of the public seeking medical assistance have kidney problems.

(In fact, at the People’s Day of Ako Bicol Party-List held at the north gate of the Batasang Pambansa every Monday, 65 percent of those seeking assistance have kidney problems and need dialysis),” Co said.

The construction of NKTI’s Hemodialysis Building is seen as a major milestone in the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

The construction of the facility is a huge blessing),” he added.

The initiative is part of the Legacy Specialty Hospitals of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

(The House of Representatives is continuously passing laws and allocating funds to ensure every citizen is healthy and comfortable. As our Speaker and the President have said, every life is valuable),” Co said.

The Bicolano lawmaker expressed optimism that with the construction of the country’s biggest hemodialysis building, the government is paving the way for a healthier and brighter future for all citizens.
