NBI, PNP asked to look into slay of crusader vs graft
DEPUTY Speaker and Ilocos Sur Rep. Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano on Thursday called on the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to get into the bottom of the senseless killing of Froilander “Lander” Agdeppa in Paoay, Ilocos Norte on April 22, 2021.
Savellano said Agdeppa was his staunch ally and a crusader against graft and corruption.
“I am saddened by the brutal killing of Froilander ‘Lander’ Agdeppa.
We have lost not only a political ally but a crusader against graft and corruption,” Savellano said.
The Deputy Speaker vowed to pursue a probe into the killing and bring justice to the perpetrators of the crime.
“I abhor this barbaric act. Rest assured that we will get into the bottom of this senseless killing, and bring into justice the persons who perpetrated this savage act. We will not be deterred, and we will continue your fight against corruption Mr. Agdeppa,” Savellano said.
Agdeppa was shot to death by unidentified gunmen in Bgy. Suba, Paoay, Ilocos Norte on April 22, 2021.
Initial PNP investigation showed that Agdeppa suffered multiple gunshot wounds all around his body, which caused his instantaneous death.
Investigators recovered from the crime scene a total of 25 bullets from, a .45 caliber and M-16 Armalite.
Based on the investigation, Savellano said Agdeppa was jogging when the gunmen, aboard a black Toyota Vios and motorcycle, shot him repeatedly.
Agdeppa ran for mayor in Sinait, Ilocos Sur during the 2019 elections against the daughter of Ex-Mayor Glenn Guzman, Shee-An Guzman, but lost.
“I am now calling on the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police to conduct an in-depth investigation on the murder of Mr. Agdeppa,” Savellano said.
