A GROWING number of senators advised the beleaguered leader and founder of Kingdom of Jesus Christ Pastor Apollo Carreon Quiboloy to appear in the next Senate hearing so he can air his side and answer all serious allegations hurled against him before the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

In a press conference, Senator Joseph Victor JV Ejercito Estrada said this is the right time for Quiboloy to face his detractors and answer all allegations against him in order to end this issue once and for all.

“Maganda rin na marinig naman natin ang kanyang panig. Kaya naman din siya na gustong paharapin ng President Marcos jr., ay upang mabigyan siya ng karapatan na ikwento ang kanyang version. Ang kanyang pagharap ay isang malaking tulong para sa ating kaliwanagan,” Ejercito said as he explained that Quiboloy’s testimony will clear the air on what is really going on.

Ejercito explained that although there is an existing separation between the Church and the government, it is the duty of any legislator to summon and ask the presence of his subject for the sake of fairness as he further said that this move is part of a democratic system in our government.

Earlier, a lawyer named Atty. Marie Dinah Tolentino Fuentes, counsel for KOJC in Davao City, reportedly received the subpoena which was officially sent last Feb. 22, 2024, requiring the televangelist to appear in the next Senate hearing scheduled this coming March 5, on the allegations that he repeatedly raped several of his former KoJC followers, etc.

“I really urge Apollo Quiboloy to appear in the Senate to answer the serious allegations against him. Mahalagang madinig ng taong bayan ang kanyang side upang maintindihan natin ito sapagkat siya lamang ang pwedeng magbigay linaw sa maraming personal na akusasyon laban sa kanya dahil ito po ito pwedeng sagutin na sinuman sa kanyang mga abogado kundi siya lamang talaga,” Hontiveros said.

Senator Imee Marcos, the presidential sister said this is very sad as she described Quiboloy as a very compassionate person whom she considered also as a friend.

“Mabait siya sa atin at higit sa lahat ay tumutulong sa napakarami. Sana maayos na lang ito. Nalulungkot ako. Inaasahan ko na maisaayos ito sa madaling panahon at sana ay bigyan din siya ng tamang respeto sa kanyang karapatan,” Sen. Marcos said.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian also advised the KOJC founder and leader to respect Hontiveros’ authority as chair of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality, insisting that this his chance to respond to the charges that he had sexually and physically abused these so-called KoJC members.

He said Quiboloy should respect the authority of Congress and should answer allegations against him by facing the Senate investigation as he further explained that appearing in the Senate this coming March 5 did not mean that he was already guilty of the accusations leveled against him.

Gatchalian said it is important for Quiboloy to clear his name as he urged him to submit himself in the next hearing so he can face his accusers squarely.

Earlier, Pastor Quiboloy admitted that he feared for his life due to an alleged plot by the US government to assassinate him allegedly in connivance with the government as he also accused President Marcos and first lady Liza Araneta Marcos of cooperation with the CIA and the FBI.

For Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, this fear of Pastor Quiboloy is unfounded as he assured him that the investigation in the Senate will be fair to all and will extend to him the respect that he deserves under the constitution.

Pimentel admitted that he is also a friend of Pastor Quiboloy as he expressed belief that many of his other colleagues were also good friends of the the KOJC leader and have known him as a good person as well.

Pimentel, who is also from Mindanao, said he is very sure that the constitutional rights of the KoJC leader will be recognized as he told Quiboloy not worry that much insisting that his right to speak and answer all the allegations will be recognized accordingly.
