MANILA Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto led the inauguration of the new head office of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) on Wednesday in Quiapo, Manila.

They were joined by Rodel Sampang, Council Chairman of BSP, during the inauguration of the 4-storey building of the Manila Council Scouting Center for the Boys Scouts of the Philippines.

Mayor Lacuna-Pangan believed that the opening of the new “home” for boy scouts would result in more recruitment under scouting.

“Ngayong may sarili na kayong bahay at lugar, natitiyak kong lalo pang magiging masigasig at aktibo ang BSP Manila sa paghihikayat sa marami pang kabataang Manilenyo na sumali sa scouting,” she said.

The mayor recognized the efforts of the council in sharpening the next breed of scouting not only for the city but for the entire country.

“Ang Boy Scout bilang isang matibay na katuwang ng mga pangunahing institusyon ng lipunan tulad ng pamilya at paaralan, ay tunay namang nakakatulong sa paghuhubog ng pagkatao, pagpapalakas ng kakayahan, paglinang ng talento, pag-gabay sa ating mga kabataan na sila ay maging tunay na kapaki-pakinabang at responsableng mamamayan,” Lacuna-Pangan said.

The new building of BSP has its own board room, control room, toilet, main office, chairman’s office, scout executive’s office, finance office, pantry, toilet, open deck, training hall, and a multi-purpose hall.
