Young burglar arrested in Malabon

A-15-year-old boy who barged inside the barracks of construction workers and carted away four cellular phones was arrested after a brief chase with policemen yesterday before dawn in Malabon City.

The boy, armed with a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two bullets, sneaked inside the barracks of workers on Pampano St. in Bgy. Longos and stole four mobile phones of sleeping workers at around 4 a.m.

Ronel Abucejo, 35, one the construction workers, said he was jolted awake by the presence of the suspect who hurriedly rushed out with their cellular phones.

Abucejo immediately woke up his co-workers and sought the assistance of /Cpl. Sergio Consulta III, Pat. Alexis Canizarez and Pat. John Cedric Goque of Malabon Police Sub-Station 5, who were patrolling the area and chased the boy.

Case investigators P/SSgt Diego Ngippol and P/Cpl Renz Marlon Baniqued said the minor suspect was turned over to Bahay Sandigan, a facility built by the local government of Malabon to take care of children in conflict with the law.

The stolen cellphones were recovered.
