MANILA Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, and Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) Director Ma. Asuncion “Re” Fugoso led the distribution of educational cash assistance to qualified Manileño public school students.

Around 975 beneficiaries from District 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and Baseco area, composed of qualified students and their parents, trooped to Dakota Covered Court in Malate Wednesday afternoon to receive P5,000 each derived from the Educational Assistance Program of the MDSW.

Mayor Lacuna said a total of P4,875,000 was distributed to qualified public school students and added that the next batch of students from District 6 and other areas will also be granted the same cash assistance.

The mayor advised parents to use the cash assistance coming from the city government not as payment for their water and electricity bills but for their children’s education.
