NANAWAGAN ng tulong ang concert king and queen na sina Martin Nievera at Pops Fernandez para sa mga kababayang naapektuhan ng mapinsalang wildfire sa Los Angeles, California.

Sa mediacon ng pre-Valentine concert nilang “Always & Forever,” sinabi ni Martin na sana ay maglaan ang Pinoy artists tulad nila ng tulong sa pagsisimula ng Pinoy families na nawalan ng bahay at kabuhayan sa LA.

“All our hearts go to everybody who lost their homes, all their belongings, their memories, you know. I’ve received a lot of messages, there’s a lot of Filipinos as well, our fellow kababayans, who make Los Angeles or areas around Los Angeles their home for years. We’ve performed for them at least once a year,” panimula ni Martin.

Dagdag niya, “I hope we can all be part of the recovery. I speak on behalf of all Filipino artists who can draw in the crowd, big or small. We should somehow devote our next few shows to some foundation, you know, we have to be careful with those things. But sana someone could start some sort of foundation so we could help them at least survive while they’re trying to start again.

“We can’t build them new houses, that’s for sure. But we can help them start. So I hope we can be part of that as well,” patuloy niya.

Sey naman ni Pops, marami talaga silang mga kaibigan doon na itinuturing na nilang pamilya kaya naman nalulungkot sila sa sinapit ng mga ito.

“We have been checking on them. It’s very, very sad and hopefully they can… its hard, specially when you’ve lost everything, specially memories. Ako nga sinasabi ko, ’yung memories that they’ve probably kept in their homes, alam mo ‘yon, ‘di na yun mababalik. But hopefully, they can…,” saad ng concert queen.

Speaking of memories, core memory ang nabuo nina Pops at Martin nang dayuhin ang first birthday ng first apo nilang si Finn, anak ng panganay nilang si Robin, sa Amerika.

Ilang araw silang tumigil sa Chicago noong Disyembre, 2024 para sama-samang i-celebrate ang okasyon kasama ang pamilya ng partner ni Robin na si Mian Acoba.

Kwento ni Pops, “We tried to make it a point to spend every minute with him, ‘no? So, paggising tinatawagan na namin si Robin, nakaplano na ‘yon, kakain na kami somewhere. And the idea is really just to be with our family, with Robin, of course, Mian and with Finn. Lalo na ‘ko, parang I don’t wanna miss out ‘coz I know that we’re only gonna be there for four or five days tapos ilang buwan na naman kami hindi magkikita.

“So, binaon ko na lahat ng moments with both of them and it turned out to be a fun trip because we got to meet Mian’s family also. And she has a huge family. So ‘yung birthday party ni Finn, family lang niya pala saka kami lang, ang laki-laki na, ang dami-dami na.

“It’s so nice, you know, I mean, kami-kami lang. But somehow, we all enjoyed, the children enjoyed. Finn was kinda clueless, he didn’t know what was happening. But I think in his own little way, he also had fun because pagod na pagod siya nu’n pero hindi talaga siya nagreklamo.

Tinapos niya ‘yung buong party niya. He’s really a very, very good baby,” mahabang tsika ni “Lolli” Pops.

At dahil ilang linggo na lang, Feb. 5 to be exact, ay magbi-birthday na rin si “Lilo” Martin, nahingan si Pops ng wish para sa dating asawa.

Peace and happiness daw ang constant prayer niya para kay Martin.

“Whatever it is, may he find his peace and happiness. Whatever that is… peace and happiness,” turan ni Pops.

Two days after ng 62nd birthday ni Martin, magkakasama naman sila sa “Always & Forever,” na gaganapin sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Feb. 7.

Ito rin bale ang magsisilbing selebrasyon ng 40th year ng iconic Martin-Pops tandem.
