THE Manila Health Department (MHD) had started the rollout of the second booster shots against COVID-19 for the general population, 18-years and above, including pregnant and lactating women, in all 44 Health Centers of the City of Manila.

Manila Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan made the announcement during the “Kalinga sa Maynila” yesterday in Barangay 328, Sta Cruz, Manila, after the Department of Health (DOH) released its guidelines for the second COVID-19 booster shots to the general population, excluding children ages 5 to 17.

Under the guidelines, the DOH allows all healthy adults, 18 and above, to receive their second booster shot after six months from their first booster.

The mayor said only three COVID-19 vaccine brands, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Moderna, were allowed by the DOH to be given to the general public.

“Paunawa lamang po, sana ay tumungo kayo sa Health Centers in group of six, kase po ang isang vial po ng Pfizer ay anim ang pwedeng gamitan na babakunahan. Hindi po natin mabubuksan ang isang vial kapag hindi po kumpleto ang anim kase sayang naman po dahil itatapon lamang ang natira,” Mayor Honey reminded the public as she assured that all 44 Health Centers in Manila had enough supplies of any of the three anti-COVID-19 vaccines.

Mayor Honey said the administration of 2nd booster shots for the general population will be open even to non-residents in all Health Centers in Manila from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mayor Honey also clarified that currently, there is no need to reimpose the mandatory use of face masks in the City of Manila.

”Just to clarify, sa ngayon po ay wala pa namang need for the mandatory use of face mask.
