Close to 38% applicants hurdle police entrance test

CLOSE to 10,000 aspiring police officers will soon find themselves donning PNP uniform after they hurdled the entrance examinations conducted by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

Held last December 3 and 4, 2022 in 25 designated testing centers nationwide, the police eligibility conducted covered 37,000 examinees for both the entrance and promotional tests where a total of 14,046 passed the tests.

A total of 9,768 were able to hurdle the entrance exams while 4,278 passed the promotional test.

Of the 4,278 police officers who successfully passed the promotional examinations, their category has been broken down to Police Officer 1st Class Examination for Police Major and Police Lieutenant Colonel (39 passers); Police Officer 2nd Class Examination for Police Lieutenant and Police Captain (287 passers).

Also included are Police Officer 3rd Class Examination for Police Master Sergeant, Police Senior Master Sergeant, Police Chief Master Sergeant and Police Executive Master Sergeant (1,697 passers); and Police Officer 4th Class Examination for Police Corporal and Police Staff Sergeant (2,255 passers).

The eligibility conferred upon passing the PNPE Examination is one of the requirements for appointment in the PNP as a Patrolman/Patrolwoman, while passing the promotional examination is considered appropriate for promotion to a higher rank.
