PATROL Party-list Representative Jorge Bustos assured the family of P/Lt. Colonel Marlon Serna, of his group’s unwavering support for their quest for justice over the police official’s tragic death in the hands of two armed suspects in Bulacan last March 25.

“The attack on Serna is an attack against the entire police community,” said Bustos, himself a former police officer before trying his hands into public service.

Bustos, along with his brother, Masantol, Pampanga mayor Jose Antonio Bustos and the members of the local police personally went to the wake of Serna to condole with his family.

He said promoting the interest of the police is among the priorities of his group in Congress.

It can be recalled that along with his men, Serna, the police chief of San Miguel, Bulacan, immediately responded to a reported robbery incident in Bgy. San Juan, San Miguel on the night of March 25, by immediately establishing a police checkpoint in San Ildefonso.

However, when the police tried to flag down a motorcycle with two men on board, one of the men pulled a gun and fired a shot that tragically hit Serna in the head.

The police chief was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the suspects managed to escape and are now the subject of a continuing police manhunt.

Bustos also appealed to the public for their cooperation in hastening the resolution of Serna’s death.

Already, the Philippine National Police and the office of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos had already pooled a combined reward money of P1 million for information leading to the arrest of Serna’s killers.
