JAEN, Nueva Ecija — The 27-member of the League of Barangays in this town underwent swab testing on April 22 at the municipal health center as per directives of Mayor Sylvia C. Austria, it was learned.

Austria said the municipal government sponsored-swab testing which was led by LNB president Larry Manuel, was undertaken to ensure that those leaders serving in the barangays are safe from COVID-19.

Also swabbed were all personnel at the town hall including those assigned to different national agencies such as the Philippine Statistics Authority, Commission on Elections, Commission on Audit, PhilPost, Department of Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Health-Rural Health Unit.

“Ang gawaing ito ay isang paraan upang masiguro na ang lahat ng kawani ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Jaen at mga national agencies sa ating munisipyo ay ligtas sa COVID-19. Tiniyak ni Mayor Austria kaisa ng ating municipal health officer Dr. Benny A. Lopez na ang lahat ng mga bibisita sa ating munisipyo ay ligtas sa nasabing sakit,” the municipal government posted on Facebook.

Municipal councilor Atty. Sylvester C. Austria said the swab-testing project by the local government unit was conducted prior to the arrival of the new antigen machine and test kits that were donated by the provincial government led by Gov. Aurelio M. Umali.

Austria said the program of the governor with the assistance of CTG Prime Ventures Incorporated is of huge help to Jaen as it will boost the RHU’s testing capacity in detecting suspected COVID-19 cases.

The mayor added it is a welcome addition to the town’s lone antigen machine earlier purchased by the LGU.

As of May 1, Jaen has a total of 174 confirmed cases with 37 active, 117 recoveries and 22 deaths.
