It’s good news

IT must be very exasperating for the Filipino people if some of the world’s major manpower-importing countries decide to reduce the number of their foreign workers

Thus, we are heartened to know that Israel has opened its tourism industry to Filipinos, who are known worldwide as highly-dedicated and honest workers.

The Israeli Ambassador to Manila – Ilan Fluss – has sent off the first batch of 61 Filipinos, who were hired to work as hotel workers in said Middle East (ME) country.

Official records show that majority of our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are employed in the oil-rich Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and other ME nations.

In a statement, Anbassador Fluss said: “We are optimistic that the demand will grow, especially that Filipinos have proven their world-class service in the caregiving industry.”

At present, an estimated 30,000 Filipino workers are employed as caregivers in Israel.

It will be recalled that in 2018, the Philippines and Israel signed a historic labor agreement. The accord was signed during President Duterte’s state visit to Tel Aviv.

For the initial phase of the accord, 500 Pinoy hotel workers will be hired. “More slots will open depending on the demand for hospitality-related jobs in the country,” said the Israel Embassy in Manila.

We hope Israeli employers hire more Filipino migrant workers. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of OFWs lost their high-paying jobs, forcing them to return home.

Kaya nga isang magandang balita ang pag-hire ng Israel ng ating mga manggagawa sa hotel industry.
