ADMITTEDLY, it’s too early to say whether the government succeeds in meeting the housing needs of the mushrooming population.
What’s certain is that President Marcos, through concerned state offices and agencies, is doing everything to address the country’s homelessness problem.
We are made to believe that the government is in a position to come up with the best practical solutions to the still growing homelessness in impoverisherd Philippines.
In fact, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is sending its key officials to work directly with local government units (LGUs) and partners.
This is to accelerate the nationwide implementation of President Marcos’ multi-pronged flagship Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) housing program.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar instructed his key officials, notably the undersecretaries, to focus on local engagement to sustain the momentum of the program’s rollout.
Secretary Acuzar said each official will be assigned to specific areas to closely monitor ongoing projects” across the Philippines.
Under the 4PH program, informal settler families shall be temporarily relocated to government staging areas for at least one to two years while the project is under construction.
This type of housing project should be pursued and supported by the Filipino people.
