THE Gabriela Party-list has welcomed the issuance of arrest warrant against Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy.

The Davao Regional Trial Court issued the arrest warrant against Quiboloy for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minor and maltreatment.

According to Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas the charges against Quiboloy are deeply troubling, as they involve allegations of sexual abuse of minors and maltreatment within his organization.

“It is a stark reminder of how individuals who hold power and influence often exploit and abuse the vulnerable,” Brosas said.

The lady solon lamented that for far too long, Quiboloy managed to evade justice, shielded by his connections and the protection of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Brosas stressed that the fact that Quiboloy evaded justice for years raises serious questions about the network of enablers and powerful individuals who may have been directly involved in helping him conduct his illegal activities.

She added that an investigation must be conducted not only into his crimes but also into his connections, as it is inconceivable that he could have avoided accountability for so long without active assistance from influential figures who are aiding and abetting him.

“No one, regardless of their stature or connections, should be above the law. We stand in solidarity with the victims of these abuses and commend their bravery in coming forward to seek justice,” she also said.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, in a press conference at the Kapihan Senado, urged Pastor Apollo Carreon Quiboloy to face the court and to say his side once and for all.

According to Gatchalian, since it was the request of Quiboloy to have everything filed before the proper court, it is important for him to take this chance to air his side.

“Dapat galangin niya ang proseso. Ito ay formal court na pwede siyang magpaliwanag. Sa formal court, pwede niyang depensahan ang sarili niya. Sinasabi niya sa Senate at Congress di naman formal court . Ngayon may warrant of arrest na nga siya from a formal court,” Gatchalian said.

Hontiveros said the request of Quiboloy to have it in proper court is now granted.

Both Gatchalian and Hontiveros advised the beleaguered KOJC founder to respect the authority of the court as well as the Senate panel. With Camille P. Balagtas
