ALL police units in Northern Luzon have been ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar to be on full alert to typhoon ‘Kiko’ which is expected to bring heavy rains in the region beginning Friday.

Thousands of residents in Eastern Visayas, Bicol and Calabarzon regions and other areas were forced to flee their homes as a result of the heavy flooding brought by ‘Jolina’ which killed at least nine persons.

Eleazar said.

PAGASA said there is moderate to high likelihood that tropical cyclone wind signals would be raised over several provinces in Northern Luzon, with higher wind signal levels possible over extreme Northern Luzon due to ‘Kiko.’

Amid the forecast, Gen. Eleazar ordered local police officials to be present in the meetings of local government units and other government agencies and in crafting measures to ensure the safety of local residents.

Police assets that include trucks and other vehicles are also expected to be placed on standby for preemptive evacuation, along with enough number of policemen to assist the local officials, he added.

Gen. Eleazar urged the public to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local officials in preparation for this typhoon.
