Ecija farmer shot dead on way to farm
ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija — A 51-year-old farmer was discovered dead peppered with bullets in this town on Sunday morning here.
Provincial police head Col. Jaime O. Santos said the slain victim was identified as Fred Corpuz, whose lifeless body was found by farmer Jessie Simbulan, 48, of Bgy. Bibiclat.
Simbulan said he stumbled upon the victim’s body on his way to his farm at 5:30 a.m. in the said area. After which, he told the victim’s wife about what happened.
Initial police investigation showed that the killing took place when Corpuz went to his farm to plant palay on board a Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle at 5 a.m.
Santos said he ordered his men to investigate the killing and arrest its perpetrator.
