A PARTY-LIST congressman has launched the #BrakeForAnimals campaign to remind the drivers and motorists to drive safely and always slow down to give way to stray animals.

Ang Probinsyano party-list Rep. Ronnie Ong has partnered with the animal rights advocacy group Pawssion Project, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the private sector to set up an information drive to remind motorists to drive more carefully especially in the presence of stray animals.

Ong said that through the help of private partners like Jag Jeans and City Advertising Ventures Corporation, they were able to put up massive #BrakeForAnimals billboards in various locations such as near the Guadalupe-Makati area, along the northbound portion of Cubao, and across SM Megamall.

The billboards along EDSA also feature images of dogs and cats that are hit-and-run survivors and victims of animal cruelty, as well as an aspin named Coco, Ong’s adopted rescue from Pawssion Project.

Apart from the billboards, Ong said that Pawssion Project and other animal rights advocacy groups are on overdrive in their #BrakeForAnimals information drive using various social media platforms.

“Let us all #BrakeForAnimals wherever we are. We are so thankful for your support to this campaign. Proud, more than ever, to have been partners with PAWSsion Project from the start, and of course, thank you MMDA for joining us in this campaign,” Ong said.

“Just a split-second of braking for animals crossing the road can save lives. If you cannot adopt or rescue or foster, at least don’t hurt them please,” he added.
