WE laud the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the “Galing Pook Foundation (GPF)” for launching a nationwide anti-hunger movement.

Under the undertaking, local government units with the best anti-hunger initiatives and practices on food security will receive P2 million each through the “Walang Gutom Awards.”

The DSWD, headed by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and GPF under Chairman Mel Sarmiento and Director-General Georgina Ann Hernandez-Yang recently launched the awards in Quezon City.

The DSWD and the GPF will award 10 LGUs nationwide, with each winning LGU receiving P2 million.

Secretary Gatchalian said the launching of the nationwide “Walang Gutom Awards is a testament that we want to amplify the success stories in the LGUs out there.”

We share the view of the DSWD top honcho from Valenzuela City that nobody has a monopoly on the right answers to the problem of hunger in this nation.

Naniniwala tayo na para malabanan natin ang kagutuman sa bansa ay kailangan natin ang pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan ng lahat ng sektor ng lipunan.
