THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) continues to assist the 27 Filipino human trafficking victims from Cambodia.

Representatives from the Department visited the victims in Cambodia last October to provide psycho-social assistance and to take their statements for the filing of cases/complaints.

Upon their arrival last Friday, December 8, 2023, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), an attached agency of the DMW, provided transportation, transit, and accommodation assistance.

The Department in coordination with Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors will assist the victims in prosecuting cases of syndicated illegal recruitment and qualified human trafficking.

Aside from legal and psycho-social assistance, the Department is committed to provide additional financial and reintegration support to the victims.

We thank the Cambodian National Police who facilitated the rescue of our kababayans, Caritas Cambodia who provided shelter to them during the processing of their exit documents and the Department of Foreign Affairs and our Embassy in Phnom Penh who took the lead in their rescue and repatriation.

The Department of Migrant Workers remains committed in the fight against human trafficking, assist victims and shall pursue perpetrators to the full extent of the law.
