TWO more projects of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) came into fruition in Nueva Ecija province on Monday.

DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario, who led the inauguration in San Leonardo and Talavera with DHSUD Regional Office 3 OIC-Director Felix Brazil Jr., said the projects will serve as a “new standard” for future housing projects in the country – citing the subdivision-like development of roads and drainage system.

DHSUD, through the private developers’ incentivized compliance to a balanced housing program, provided land development assistance to the housing projects in Bgy. San Roque in San Leonardo town and Bgy. Lomboy, Talavera – both intended for informal settler families living along danger zones and those who do not own lots.

Citing the subdivision-like resettlement project as another promise fulfilled for the housing and urban development sector by the Duterte administration, Secretary Del Rosario said that the undertaking will serve as a “standard” for future resettlement projects in the province.

“Ako’y natutuwa dahil ito ang nagging resulta ng ating pagtutulungan, pagtutulungan ng national government, ng LGU [local government unit] at ng private sector at nagawa natin ang napakagandang proyekto,” the housing czar stressed.

“Ito ay napakagandang simula because we have established a standard in San Leonardo. That whenever you are going to construct a housing project being undertaken by the national and local government, this must be the standard now,” he noted.

The key event was also graced by San Leonardo LGU officials led by San Leonardo Mayor Froilan Nagaño and Talavera Mayor Nerivi Santos-Martinez, who expressed gratitude to the government, particularly to DHSUD, for the housing projects.

DHSUD Regional Office 3 OIC-Director Felix Brazil Jr., who was instrumental in the realization of the project, and other officials from the Department and the National Housing Authority Regional Office, were likewise in attendance.

During the Talavera event, Secretary Del Rosario stated that he is proud to be of service to his “kababayans” vowing that DHSUD will continue providing quality and unwavering shelter-related assistance to Filipino families, especially the underserved.

“I never realized that I will be coming back and be instrumental na matulungan ang aking mga kababayan, most especially in housing,” Secretary Del Rosario said.

“Kaya itong project natin sa land development, we ensure na itong lugar na ito ay puwede mong ipagmalaki, puwede mo ipagyabang dahil ikaw ay nakatira sa isang housing project ng gobyerno na masasabi nating matibay at sustainable. This is security of tenure, para mayroon kang sariling bahay, sariling lupa at titulado na ibibigay sa inyo,” he added.

More than 100 ISFs (informal settler families) stand to benefit from the resettlement project located in Bgy. Lomboy, Talavera, while 60 housing units were already constructed in San Leonardo by the National Housing Authority (NHA).
