DENR okays GenTri crematorium

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – With the number of deaths caused by coronavirus disease-19, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources has approved the construction of a crematorium in this city.

The facility is set to be built at Himlayan ng General Trias in Bgy. Buenavista III.

DENR director and engineer William Cuñado said the infrastructure project includes housing, storage facilities and other structures of columbarium.

Meanwhile, Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla signed Executive Order 48, Series of 2021 on the guidelines for necrological rites, wakes, and funeral during the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Cavite was placed under MECQ until August 31.

The Inter-Agency Task Force has allowed gathering, necrological services, wakes for those who died of causes other than coronavirus under MECQ but limited only to immediate family members and in full compliance with public health standards.

The IATF said wakes should only be held for two days and no food and drinks were allowed in the area.

A12-hour rule for cremation was imposed by the Task Force as part of the protocol for handling deceased patients amid the outbreak.
