CPP-NPA official falls in Davao de Oro
A JOINT Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and Philippine Army (PA) counter-terror operation in Monkayo, Davao de Oro Friday last week resulted in the capture of a ranking official of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. announced on Wednesday.
In a report to PNP chief, General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., the PNP-CIDG director identified the arrested suspect as Hannah Alcorin Hitgano alias ‘Kat’, 23, who is wanted for rebellion and insurrection under Article 134 of the Revised Penal Code.
Caramat said CIDG Davao Field Unit and Army officers arrested the accused in Purok 8, Barangay Poblacion in Monkayo around 11:30 a.m. last Friday on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Marie Estrellita Suya Tolentino-Rojas of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 17 on October 10, 2022.
The PNP-CIDG director said the suspect is the secretary general of Anakabayan and the Cultural Staff of the Youth Sector of the CPP/NPA Regional White Area Committee under the groups’ Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Army’s 25th Infantry Battalion, the official said.
